Damien Daley - "self confessed liar"- was reading the Daily Mirror in his cell on the evening of 23rd September 1997 when lo and behold Michael Stone in the adjacent cell began confessing the same details of the crime through a hole between the heating pipe and the wall!

The remaining details of the crime were published in the other national newspapers on the same day as the confession and in the days leading up to Daley's statement on 26th September 1997.

Kent police could at last put their feet up and stop searching for the actual murderer on the strength of this 'compelling' evidence - but in doing so they neglected to fulfil their duty to  protect society.
